Default PPP: how can I be assured that my car has had it done

Hi guys

Just bought a WRX with PPP. How do I know that this performance pack was actually carried out? Is there a registry with Prodrive for eg?

cheers

There should be a certificate with the cars paperwork.

Certificate, blue Samco hose should be viable below intercooler and Prodrive BB. However, most of these can be fitted without the PPP ecu so the only way to be 100% is as mid life said, the certificate..!

Saying that, the ECU should have a Prodrive (pink..?) sticker on it, under carpet in passenger footwell.

I've been solving exactly the same problem and have contacted Prodrive. They were extremly fast and helpful. Do the same or read their answer to me:

Unfortunately we do not keep records of VIN numbers for vehicles with
Prodrive modifications.

I am therefore unable to confirm if your car has had a full Prodrive
upgrade.

A Prodrive performance package for a 99MY car will have the following
components installed;

STI ECU
Prodrive intercooler hoses
Prodrive rear silencer (round tailpipe)
STI centre exhaust

The Standard ECU will have either a Subaru or Nippon Denso label, whilst the PPP ECU will have a pink STI label.

It is therefore very easy to spot the difference between the two.

Hell, I got no certificate. Will try find the ECU. I was going to call Prodrive themselves but seems that that would be a waste of time.

Cheers

No not at all.

Call up prodrive themselves. My situtation is that a 99 car is said to have the ppp and have no certificate. As the car is not local I'm trying to get the guy to take some pics of the intercooler area and the ecu. I don't doubt the guy as I have been calling round to find out if I can get any info that the car is fitted with a ppp. I called up subaru and they told me that the earlier ones i.e. 99 would go to prodrive and may not have been recorded on their database.

I then tried prodrive and I gave them a vin no. and they checked their system and it was recorded to having the ppp kit installed on the exact date and with what dealer and owner. They are really good and I'm very impressed at their quick response and helpfulness! Top marks Prodrive.

Now to see if the ppp kit is still on it is another matter........

hth as I'm new here and will be looking at making my first scoob purchase soon.

You could hook up a boost gauge the standard ecu ran up to 0.9 bar
PPP runs upto 1.1 Bar.
