Lightbulb Cold air feed

Just thought I'd post this for anyone who has a classic with Morettes, and doesn't really want an induction kit (like me ):

The ducting is 75mm I think, from the local motor factors. Got 3ft, cost under a tenner, very strong but flexible. The small bit of mesh was free from a mate.

Obviously only works with morettes, and I had to remove (or could relocate) the carbon can, and resonator (did that years ago). Got it mapped straight after so can't tell what difference it made, but when the engine bay is hot after a run, the pipe and airbox are ice cold. The pipe is a perfect fit (length&diameter) into the airbox too.

Was cheaper than getting a new Morette lens to replace the old rusty one!

Cheers fellas, I'm really pleased with it - it fits perfectly, does it's job, and was really cheap!

Yes mate I use a K&N - had the same one for over 4 years and it's still as good as new, I just thoroughly clean it once a year.

I'm just hoping I can get through the MoT with only one inner light - the inner ones normally come on on full beam, although the outer ones do get brighter - I think!

Jamie, if you're concerned about only having one inner light, disconnect it for the MOT, the outer lights do main beam anyway....

Yeah cheers RON, I think I'll give that a try. It's just that the outer ones only have one bulb from what I remember so couldn't see how they could do main & dipped beam? Just another thing to add to the complications come MoT time - along with the decat!

The outer bulb is a twin filament jobby.... otherwise you'd only have one main beam now wouldn't you.......

Not had any problems mate - touch wood. Due to the route the pipe takes through to the airbox, there seems to be enough kinks in it to stop any rain water/spray coming through. Could always put a few holes in the pipe at it's lowest point, but haven't found the need to do this.

Cheers,
J

iam thinking on the lines of a drainage pot with a drip valve grafted into the air pipe which should allow a constant drip of any water sitting in the pipe. let u know if it works.

nice job.
I thought the hole in the airbox was 60 mm...
with a short ram intake we can use this idea, the air flows directly to the filter...
