Default Rattley Window

Remember reading on here sometime ago about problems with electic door windows becoming loose and rattley when the window is wound down, have got this problem with mine now. Have noticed that the window is becoming scratched too.

Anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Is it an easy job taking the door card off, and when I do what will I find?

Thanks Paul

Mine's the opposite - rattles like mad when closed and stops when it's wound down a few mm. Then, it whistles, lol.

Stripped it easily enough, put it all back together and it's still doing it.
Now the glovebox has started rattling in sympathy, along with the instrument display plastics where I had a knocklink fitted.

Maybe I'd better leave it alone if everything else starts to rattle when you try and fix it

If you take the doorcard off you'll see some felt pads that guide the window - unscrew and give them a clean as they gather dust and grit - thats whats scrathcing the window.

Door card removal for a MY00 - there's a small square plastic cap below the main door handle - remove and take out the bolt behind it. Do NOT remove the screw that's in the handle with the door lock. Gently pull the front end of the electric window switch housing until it free's then pull forward to release - undo the bolt thats underneath and unplug the window switches. There's also a fixing plug near the wing mirror that comes out with a screwdriver - it's usually hidden when the door is shut.

The rest of the doorcard is clipped on, pull gently to free them. it's often stuff at the top so it's easier doing this lot with the glass down - and the black triangular bit that covers the wing mirror fixings pulled off (it just pops on and off)

There's tons of nuts and bolts holding the elec window mech. in place it's probably one of those thats loose / buggered / missing *

*delete as applicable.
