Default Whats the deal with Induction Kits

I own a MY01 UK300 and am thinking of changing the panel filter for an induction kit. I've heard a few stories about the MAF sensor trouble due to induction kits. Does this go for all induction kits? I would like to here from people which have the bugeye model with induction kits for their stories, good or bad.
Thanks
Steven

the problem with indution kits is that most of them have an oil of some sort on the outside to catch crap etc and the extra movement (vibration) it has with an induction kit is what usually kills the maf sensor! iv'e had blitz and k & n on my old MY98 WRX and the k & n was the better of the two! on a bugeye i wouldn't even bother as you will gain nothing from it at all!

Why not just remove the snorkel and resonator which feed air to the filter box ? Takes about 20 minutes, costs nothing and supplies the engine with nice cool air from the wing as well as making the induction and dump valve much more audible. No threat to the MAF from vibration as it's still mounted in it's original place. It's up to you whether or not you uprate the panel for a Green/JR Racing/K&N for a little extra

Details of the mod are here

So is there no real power gains with induction kits?

Not unless you're already over 400bhp, have fitted it securely and ensure it has plenty of cold air supplied and is isolated as much as possible from the engine bay heat. Waste of money to buy, even bigger potential waste if the engine goes pop.

The cold air intake is one of the scoobs better designs. Hard to beat the standard setup unless you're going for monster BHP, as already said.

Just put a better panel filter in as corradoboy has mentioned.

I've fitted a Green filter to my 05 and more than happy with it.
