Question

Sounds like you car is either running in "limp home mode" where the ecu has restricted boost to protect itself, or your boost solenoid needs cleaning. You could try an ECU reset to see if it clears it, if not has the oil been changed recently as over filling it can result in the boost solenoid clogging up.

Please let me Know wot it was when you sus it. Iv'e been told it could be that the spring is streched in the actuator, due to a MBC being used. Don't know how reliable this imformation is

I have tried to clean the solenoid but i did not have a lot of time to spend on it, when i reconnected it and tested the car it made no difference at all.

When i get home tommorrow i will give it a proper clean and i will see what happens from there.

What i've done with mine is put a relief valve (mbc) between the turbo and actuator. Its got the boost up but i'd really like to get it sorted properly.

Ok

I have done 2 things;

Firstly i cleaned the boost solenoid and checked to make sure it was working properly.

secondly i reset the ECU,and my god what a differance that has made the car feels like it should do.

I am now well happy with my pride and joy.

Thank you all for your input.

sounds technical. I hope I can get the same result as you. Bin scratching my head on this for a long time. Can I reset the ecu by disconecting the battery? Also how do you "put the car into test mode"? Sorry for being so thick

under the dash there a 4 test connectors,2 black and 2 green.

you need to find the order to reset the ecu,you must do it properly and the car will tell you if there are any faults.

ECU Reset
On early MYs (especially pre MY97) the ECU retards the ignition when knock is detected, however, it is very slow to advance the timing again. An ECU reset will restore the car to factory default settings. This will remove any stored fault codes and restore ignition advance. It is possible to reset the ECU by following these steps:

Turn ignition OFF

Connect Read Memory Connectors & Test Mode Connectors
(jumper 5) [black connectors] – (jumper 6) [green connectors]

Turn ignition ON (engine off)

Engine Check lamp turns on

Depress accelerator pedal completely

Then return it to the half-throttle position and hold it there for two seconds

Release pedal completely

Start engine

Code is indicated by Pulsing lamp

If a fault is detected - Check ECU Code

If no fault is detected - drive the car sensible for a couple of minutes
i.e. until warm (do not run tall & do not thrash it!)

When the ECU has been reset the Check Engine Light will flash

Code is indicated by Pulsing lamp

If a fault is detected Check ECU Code

Turn ignition OFF & Disconnect Connectors

If there is a fault Check Appropriate Sensor

Hope this helps,

JIM

Thanks Jim. I'm going to look for the connectors. I've tried to find them before. May the force be with me
