Default ECU Maybe, feels like overfuelling?

Hi all

I got a WRX 93 and have a little problem I'm not sure what the cause is.

When I first start it from cold, lately its been really smelling of fuel as if maybe its being overfuelled by the ECU or something?

Also when running along, especially when changing down a gear the revs drop quite low, there is a recognisable miss or stutter before it takes off like normal, I thought it was just a ****ty plug or something at first but had it serviced a few weeks back, initially i thought that had solved it but it hasn't.

Its constantly missing a little like I said especially when changing between gears so any ideas what it might be?

ive recently had similar problems on my 93wrx. changed to some quality plugs ecu reset and all ok. question is do you trust whoever serviced your car to have fitted new correct plugs? how long has it been like this?

I found out what has been causing the problem, simply didnt see it before.

I had it serviced in a garage about 2-3 months ago and when they changed the air filter, they had forgotten to put the 4 bolts back which holds the pipe to the filter box so it was just swinging around pretty much, not connected to the filter box at all.

Its been like that for at least 2 months now so could it have possibly damaged anything? I imagine at least thats it buggered up the ECU settings for air intake?

thoughts anyone?

Anyone?

I'm wondering whether it needs at least an ECU reset now because the air filter hasn't been connected for so long?

just unplug the battery overnight to reset the ecu and see how it goes after a few days driving.
