i have a tapping noise coming from my left cylnder (n/s) can only hear it on idle also the rocker gasket has gone as its leaking oil could this be why?? any ideas??

 

does it get worse etc with more revs?

 

where bouts are you in winsord mate could meet up & have a listen?

S**t any oil leak is bad,is it a tap or knock,coz i woz told that main bearing No3 knocks if constantly driven hard through oil starvation...what year is it? and does it ave any oil left in it?

its a my94 i do drive it hard but its got plenty of oil left in it sounds more of a tappety noise (could it be the lifters??)

rather than assume the worst, it may well be something like a loose spark plug. lifters should be hydraulic type in your year and can get a little noisy at times-your oil may be too light a grade. dont be worrying about "no3" bearing as you would hear that on all sides of the engine,particularly underneath.
