Default Orange Plug tips?

I had my car services last week and some new plugs put in (that were the wrong temp range). When they removed the plugs the dealer said that the old plug tips were orange, rusty colour......i asked him to fish them out for me as i wanted to put them back in anyway!! and sure enough they were ...

he seemed to think this was odd, as has everyone else i have shown them too....

on removing the new plugs (to replace them with the grade 7s again) the new plugs too had orange tips even though they had only been in the car less than 100 miles.....

the car is running perfectly well, the knocklink is quiet as a mouse and there are no unusual noises from anywhere.....

has anybody else heard of this before?

any thoughts appreciated!

Perfectly normal when using octane booster (certainly Millers anyway) I believe Optimax tends to leave a slight orange deposit too. In either case, it's quite acceptable.

Would also agree when using octane boosters like NF, millers etc orange deposits can be found on the plugs and also on the lambda sensor

Cheers

It's known as being Tango'd. You can see evidence of this on JB turbo (i'm sure he won't mind me using this pic http://www.johnbanks.dsl.pipex.com/clutchandturbo.JPG
