Default A/C belt?

It might sound like a daft question but can I simply render the A/C useless by replacing it with a belt from a non-A/C equipped version of my car. I don't use the a/c and think if i take the belt off the engine might be slightly more responsive/efficient. Any comments please.........

I don't really know the answer, but couldn't you just remove the a/c belt therefore making the system redundant?

If you have a closer look, you will see that there is two drive belts. One for the alternator + power steering. And the other one for the A/C, so you just need to take this one off.
