Clutch cable adjustment (NON TURBO)
Hi there, can someone please help me with a couple of things?
My car is a impreza 2.0 sport non-turbo, which i have just put a new clutch in after it started slipping every time i tried to overtake something!!
Anyway the clutch and gearbox went in ok but now i want to get the adjustment right.
The car has a cable running from the pedal to the release arm on the gearbox like most cars and i have adjusted the nut here to give an ok pedel pressure etc. but then from this same release arm in the opposite direction is another cable going to a little hydraulic actuator on the chassis leg? this looks to be connected to brake pipes .
So as i push the clutch pedal the clutch cable pulls the release arm towards the bulkhead operating the clutch and at the same time pulls the second cable which rotates the top of this hydraulic valve /actuator?
So can anyone tell me what this does please and how do i adjust it please?
i had to remove it to get the gearbox out..
Sorry for all the waffle but it seems that from what i can gather on here the turbos are hydraulic with no cables? and im stuck
Many thanks
Russell

That is whats known as the hill holder not fitted to Turbos !
Adjust the clutch in the normal manner about 1 " free play on the clutch pedal .Slacken off the hill holder so that it does not hold on the brakes with the clutch pedal depressed on a slight incline then adjust up until brakes are held on with the clutch pedal depressed (foot off brake pedal ) and adjust up until brakes release after aprox 2" release on the clutch pedal . Hope this makes sense

It works!!!!!!
Many thanks again,
i have adjusted both now and clutch is great and i can now overtake without hitting 8000 revs in half a second!!!! it was that bad.....
Also now the hill hold is adjusted it works great, as i said before i never even knew the car had it so it cant have been working. Great idea every car should have it.
thanks again
