Arrow Think its dead

I think i have killed my engine

i changed the oil 100ish miles ago
2 days back i started it up at work and noticed sum crap coming out of the back

it cleared with a tickle of the throttle

still concerned me, i have never seen that before from my own car, but i have from others, so i figured it was its old age kicking in (about 98kmiles)

on the way to the subaru meet tonight when stopped at sum traffic lights, i could smell an oily smell, i thought this was from the car infront, maybe it was, when i do an oil change i always discconect the crank sensor and prime it on the ignition, before fireing it up, i always tend to take it easy for the 1st hundred miles (although i dont know if this helps but it feels safer)

on the way back from the meeting i noticed the 100 mile barrier was almost up so i used a bit more throttle etc etc, a few 6k blasts, all was well

got enticed into a duel with a riced up silver civic and forgot all about the previous oil change

doh

not sure if this did the damage, but i never noticed the noise till after the duel, when near my home, first thoughts were sumthing was flapping under the bonnet, still made its power, went to work to look under the floodlights, couldnt seen anything out of place

started it up, fine
blipped the throttle, fine
blipped it a few times, sumtimes it makes the dreaded knock, like piston slap but a bit louder, i know its fecked !!

sumtimes it knocks, sumtimes it does not
crawled back home, it normally makes the noise at 2500rpm ish (although it was not driven on boost after i heard the noise at work)

i had planned to either have it rebuilt or replaced this summer anyway and had priced up a replacement, or a 2.5
think i will go with a replacement 2.0 to be honest
now looking for a £50 with tax and test to last me a few weeks lol

shhhh.. it is on 164,400miles and about to do about 2000miles over the next two weeks and i have just cranked the boost up to 1.45bar and spent a couple of hours mapping it and I considering more boost lol perhaps I should leave it at 1.45bar.

Well I was considering 1.5~1.7bar but not for a bit as need it for the next two weeks lol.. need to compare as there might be few gains for the extra boost, due to loss of timing etc..

Was it remapped to current spec etc?

Oh and I warm up and down but next take it easy after an oil change, it gets cranked to pressure, then driven around the block to check for leaks and then driven like normal.

Oh and what oil did you use?

10/40 or 10/50 mobil one

the stuff i have been useing for 40k miles (changed every 3k)
warmed up and cooled down
pretty much looked after, its thrashed hard, but its looked after
car was not remapped, but i have always kept a check on it with an andrewc scoobymonitor

its recently had a sti8 fuel pump added
to be honest, i think its just down to haveing a hard life, its clanky on innitial start up now
i can drive it around and keep it under 2500 rpm and it makes no real noise, although it feels rough and the knock retard is a lot more active (asumeing its extra background engine noise)

going to look at a cheap cav 1.8 in a bit, so the scoob can retire till alyn from ASperformance gets back from hols, then i can pester him to fix it

i think im probably looking at 1500 to 2000 squid to have it sorted?

its not dropped any oil or anything that we can see, still fecked tho
got a scarey 1.7td citreon zx as a runabout now
