Aled Jones Trapped in car over 130mph ????
Not sure how else to describe this one folks.
Up to about 125 - 130 mph the car is as sweet as a nut.
It's an STi7 with PPP (02).
When you hit 125ish there is a loud high pitched howling arrives, First time I heard it I thought it was coming from the back left quarter but it happened again today and seemed to be front rightish.
I can only describe the noise as operatic, Infact I fear for the windows..
Slow down and it goes.
I have no obvious knocking, No shake, no grinding and it tracks as straight as a die.
I have no clue as to what this could be and am open to suggestions, the only thing I have noticed is the pads are getting ready for replacing, but I have seen them lower.
You don't think the disk may be slightly warped do you and only kick up a fuss when the right amount of centrifugal force takes effect???? (Probably completely wrong but hey if I was smart I wouldn't need to ask eh)
Any input would be most appreciated.

Severial ;-) views on this but its one of the following...
Door covers.. i.e. the plastic door sheets that cover the internals of the doors... if the speakers have been done or someones had the door cards off and punchured the plastic the wind hools through and creats a sound like a opera singing combined with a ships horn.. :-0 nice! always at around 110-125
other posibilty is the front scoop air blowing past the rubber retaining flap and causing the thing to vibrate at high speed...
i'd go for number 1 as it started on mine not long after i swapped the front speakers
hope this helps

Gentlemen you are technical gods. I reckon you may have hit the nail on the head.
I shall investigate further.
Mind you my biggest problem is finding the right bit of road at the right time minus the coppers to see if I've fixed it.
I'll keep you posted
Many thanks

Id say windscreen strip would be a safe bet as mine came off on the m/way, had to get two mates to hold it down till got to next junction (quite funny till they both slapped me for nearly getting frost bite in their hands on the m/way)!! Or, that noise, from what i thought is consistent of a wheel bearing??
