Default Huge overboosting

Took the car out for a spin yesterday in cold'ish damp conditions and suddenly noticed my boost gauge jump up to over 2 bar and then immediately settle down again to 1.3 (normal)

Its been doing it again today but not always to the same degree sometimes its only 1.6 or even 1.7.

My actuator was sticking a little while ago and I greased it up. Do you think its the actuator playing up again or something more serious?

How much are new actuators?

Could be the boost control solenoid needs a clean, the symptoms sound similar to my MY97WRX when it happens. I have the 2 port solenoid though.

also check any pipes between turbo and actuator,

a leak in one could cause your problem

Yup. Needed replacing though. Car runs much smoother again now though. Money well spent for a performance gain!
