i don't think there is any advantages to be honest but i may be wrong,as there is nothing the original ecu can't do without a re-map,so i think you may have just wasted your money.didn't you think of asking before you purchased the ecu??

I'm not sure that it'll work at all, but if it does there are some big differences between WRX and STi's, the STi has a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, and AFAIK a higher flow fuel pump etc, did'nt the STi's have a form of VVT also? so the car may well over boost and underfuel on good at all, i'd try and talk to someone who really knows before putting it in.

I WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT WAS A JAP IMPORT STI IT WAS UPRATED I HAVE SEEN JAP IMPORT STI'S RUNNING 300 BHP AS STANDARD BUT TO BE HONEST I'M NOT TOO SURE LUCKILY I DID'NT PAY MUCH FOR IT

You put that ecu in your car and i think youll regret it mate.
My guess is that it will go bang, thats even if it runs in the first place.
With the classics which is what i have the sti engine is stronger and built to take more. You wak a sti ecu into a wrx and your asking for a rebuild.
Save yur money for a proper remap

It sounds like your trying to put an STi ecu into a WRX, in which case, you can keep trying all you want and it wont work.
There are lots of differences between the STi and WRX engines, AVCS, bigger injectors, different turbo etc, plus even if your car is an STi, you will find no real benefit as the JDM cars need 100 ron fuel as thats what its mapped for, so running 95 ron or 97 ron will just kill your engine.
Also you may find other differences between the JDM and UK STi (if thats what you have) as also exhaust parts are different, so as stated before, if you have a UK STi its best getting it either PPP'd or remapped, but check with your insurance co before doing this as it will put your policy up.

It wont work at all as Tony has already said, the cash you would have to pay to get it re-mapped to work is wasted as an Ecutek map on the original will be far cheaper and easier to do.

Check in scooby shop under ECUTEK, or look at the various vendors who'll do so (in no particular order, powerstation, Bob Rawle/B.R.D., API Engines, Power Engineering, TSL, Xtreme scoobies, Andy Forrest, no offense to the several I'm sure I missed). Typical cost in the region of £6-700 + VAT. Don't take my or anyone else's word fot the cost, though - ask the guy who's going to do it!
