Manifold Crackle Paint-Is there a perfect match??
Hi
Been looking for a while for some crackle paint, as my manifold on my Sti is looking in a bad state!, i've seen alot on the internet, but they all seem to be just a bit too pinky or red, has anyone found an almost perfect match, or will i have to do with these??
Many thanks

The nearest you will get is the stuff from www.frost.co.uk
Its a little darker IIRC than OE, but is good stuff. I used it on mine.

Yup, thats the stuff Carl. Mine has been on there for about 18mths now, and no flaking yet! Took the manifold back to bare Alloy first, then painted.
If you can, get the manifold warm first, as it sets off the wrinkle effect better.
Thanks for the comments about the pic, but thats an old one, and it looks a little better under there now!

Quality. STi manifolds seem to be growing from my bedroom carpet at the moment so going to experiment with that paint.
James, when you say warm how warm do you mean? Airing cupboard warm or oxy-acetylene warm?

well, get a metal cupboard, put it on bricks, drill some big holes in the bottom, and put an old camping fire under it, then put it on middle shelf(with holes in too)along with the paint for 1 hr then give a heavy coat, leave for 5 mins whilst cleaning the nozzle in fresh thinners, then apply another coat then place on bottom shelf for 2 hours or more. this will be perfect. smaller things can be done in the home oven(if your allowed! lol. ) seems a bit much, but this is the way I used to do it all the time whilst in the trade, restoring cars.

I suppose in direct sunlight warm would be fine, but the oven kind of warm would be better!! Don't suppose many people have ovens big enough to fit one in though??
