Default slight misfire when hot

wondered if anyone can help. when my cars cold, it idles fine, nice and smooth
when its warm, again the idles nice and smooth.
but when the cars at full temp ,running for 20min or so.on idle it starts to faulter a bit ,not a full blown misfire ,but just misses a beat every 1 to 2 seconds.if i get out of traffic and drive for say a minuite longer then back to idlre again.its ok for 20seconds or so, then starts to miss again.it doesnt seem to do this at all under load. and i should state. it is an irregular mis beat, no pattern to the way it does it........by the way ,its an x plate p1. any help would be great, pete.

Hi Pete,

I recently had that problem on my '96 Sti where it was actually misfiring every 1-2 seconds on idle both when cold or warm.

At my last service at TSL I mentioned that and they fixed it (in 5 mins) by adding some "silicone" (I believe this is how its called) to the contacts of the distributor for the ignition. The car know is extremely smooth....you can hardly hear the engine from inside the car.

You can try that and I hope it will sort out the problem for you.
