Default Increasing Boost - Is it safe??

Just wondering what you guys would make of the boost being turned up on a V5 Sti Type R to 1.35bar.

This was done by a reputable 'clinic' as part of a remap to Optimax.

As far as I know there were no change to internal components (pistons, fuel pump etc).

Is this car likely to go bang or is this a relatively safe adjustment to make?

Thanks for your help,
Wes

If properly remapped with det cans etc. then it's probably okay. No idea as to what a reliable boost target would be on an STI5.

The upshot with any boost increase is that you're putting a greater load on the engine but the usual quick killer of scoob engine is det, provide the fuelling is set up correctly to go with that boost target then you should be getting any.

From your 'hint' as to who did the map then if I'm correct in thinking they use a certain well respected mapper so I'm sure it will be good.

Cheers Graz,

yeah the mapper in question seems to have a good reputation

Do you know what standard boost is on the Type R? I always thought it was 1Bar but just speaking to a guy from Ecutek and he reckons its 1.15Bar as standard.

Wes.
