Engine Oil change - How often?
I don't want to be **** about it but do many people on here change their engine oil more often than the normal Subaru service intervals.
I don't drive hard all the time - just occasionally - but have recently participated in a track day.
I've just past 5k miles (10k service intervals for an 05 model STI PPP) and was thinking of doing it.
Anyone?

I'm thinking about my next oil change being 6 months on from the last one - should be approx. 5000 miles. I do about 10,000 miles a year and have a standard UK Bugeye WRX, which is not driven hard most of the time. If I had given it a lot of hard use and any track days, the comment about every 3,000 miles or so is probably sensible. If you are worried about interim service cost, answer could be to find a really good independent who can do it cheaper - and if they agree provide your own oil (say from Opie Oils) so that you are only paying for labour. The interim service will not be recorded as an official servicing interval so should not interfere with warranty clauses.

Just done mine at 5k, really is a piece of ****..! Cheap too as I'm still using semi sythetic, (until 10k service) so inc genuine filter & sump washer only cost £25..! As long as you've got some ramps or better still know a local friendly garage that'll let you use their ramp. 30mins max (most of that's waiting for sump to drain and pre filling filter..!).
