K&N 57i kit, best quality, as good (If not better) performance wise as any other leading brand filter on the market, they look the dogs nads and they last years (with the aid of a K&N filter charger kit). They retail at around the £100 pound mark, but you might pick up a bargain on e-bay. You can always opt for a cheapo filter, but you get what you pay for, and In the long run these are quality performance cars we run here, so a little expense Is always worth while.

Standard box with a performance panel filter is the best set up i have found. You get no heat soak like you do with indution kits and ultimately better filtration.
With every induction kit i have tried heat soak was a big issue.......Try sitting at a set of traffic lights for a couple of minutes, then try a fast take off..... Power is so down due to sucking all the hot (under bonnet) air in, it makes me go back to the stock set up every time!
Also after running with an induction kit (mainly the foam type) for a couple of month, remove it and check your intake .... I've found grimey dusty crap in there everytime.
The 'Green' panel filter actually gave better results on the dyno on my car than the HKS induction kit through the entire rev range.
IMHO unless you're going for 400 bhp+ stick with the stock box, save the grief and the £££.

Upto 300bhp the standard airbox on an early car is fine if coupled with a decent panel filter.
Much beyond this it starts to become a restriction.
At this point an induction kit becomes essential.
There is nothing wrong with fitting an induction kit to a lower powered car but just ensure that it is supplied with a sufficiently good supply of cold air. Use ducting to direct cold air from the front of the car, fit a mini bonnet scoop or whatever and shield the induction kit from engine bay heat as much as possible.
An induction kit with no cold air supply is a bad idea and should be avoided.
