Out in my mates Type R tonight (V5), had an evo in toe ....

noticed that there was black smoke coming out on gear change ...
Also noticed the knocklink was lighting up on high revs.

car is remapped for 98octane

Any ideas what this is?

how do you cahnge this then - is there an adjustment that can be made or does the car need re-mapped?

The car was remapped for optimax but i can only get esso super plus in Ireland I put millers octane booster in im just wondering should i get the car remapped for super plus ,Any help is greatly appreciated,Thanks

More likely cause is that the lamda or maf has failed & hence running rich. Though if you can get hold of your mapper they could verify quickly
