Default Pro's and Con's of Apexi Power FC ECU?

As above thinking about buying one for my Type R and wondered what opinions everyone who has them or has worked on them have?

Thanks

I have just had one on my modded Sti v3.
When mapped correctly by someone who knows what he is doing, the ECU feels like an oem 'quality' item but with all the right influences on the engine.

I also have one.
"If set up correctly" is correct.

Are they easy to play about with if different things are put onto the car i.e cheaper than having it TEK3'd again?

If you have the option of Ecutek then I would seriously consider it, as you will still retain the safety features of the standard ecu (such as retarding the ignition if it detects det).

If you don't then imho the Apexi is the best reasonably priced solution out there. Its what I had fitted to my 22b (with an AVC-R for boost control) and it now runs smoother and with more power on Optimax than it did on the original ecu with Optimax and NF.

downside is it retains the maf sensor, best vfm ecu though. If I was going to change my ecu again I'd use one.

Some however may see that as an upside (if your not running a big Garrett turbo ), possibly running a Nissan MAF tho if you have the fragile MY99/00 version.

later green spot mafs are a class apart from the earlier types, much better deal.

Unboubtedly, however Having 3 Mafs fail on me in the few months leading up to getting the gems ecu I was more than happy to get rid of the thing.

not much more to say really.. have mapped a few.. they do exactly what it says on the tin..

Refined and also a nice display mode so you can check how the car is running etc..

You shouldn't know it is not OE ecu except for the extra go.. and the commandor (unless you hide it in the glove box).

If you do a search on Apexi Power FC it should come up with all you need to know.
