Default Boost PSI

I have a 1992 WRX import and my boost guage shows it boosting at 7.5 PSI max. Is this correct? the car doesnt feel slow although a couple of my mates imports are running standard and sometimes they can hit between 13 and 15 PSI. Does it make a difference depending what gear you are in and the speed you are going?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Luke

I'm no expert but 7.5psi suggests that you are in 'limp home mode'. I would say 13 to 15 psi is about the norm- sure someone on here will know the exact figure.

My MY93 Sti went into 'limp home mode' - if this has happened to you then you should be smiling when it gets back to standard boost. Try a reset (search should help).

Good luck anyway

Correct boost target is 11.5 psi for that car.

Thanks very much for that mate, very encouraging! It is booked in for a diagnostics tomorrow anyway, but i was just wondering what the problem could be. The ecu was reset a couple of weeks ago.

Also, i thought the 'get me home' mode limited your boost a different way. The reason i had to have my ECU reset a couple of weeks back was because when i booted it the car would stop me from going beyond 4500rpm - which i thought was the 'get me home' mode, but perhaps that is something different?

Cheers for your help tho mate

Anyone else?

Luke
