urgent help
hi
on a classic wrx exhaust cat it has a sensor bolted to the pipe just below the cat
do you need this???
im in the middle of fitting a cat replacment pipe and the boss has been welded up by the previous owner?
does the car require this sensor in order to run properly??
cheers for any help you can give

It's a boss for the oxygen sensor, on some downpipes (STI5) it's above the cat right behind the turbo and on others it's lower down near the bend. On my Magnex downpipe there are two bosses, I have my oxygen probe in the top one and the bottom one is blanked off.
When I was last chatting to Mr Rawle, he reckons it;ll run fine without an oxygen sensor. Apparently the ECU only uses it for fine tuning the mixture when cruising. That's my enderstanding of what he said anyway...
Isn't there a CEL fix for if you're running without a sensor? Something like a resistor and capacitor across two terminals of the ECU?
