Default Reverse Light Problems

Hi all,

looking for some help and advise if poss, I have a 96 V3 STI and it seems that the reverse lights have stopped working I thought it might be the bulbs but they still do come on every now and then, out of 12 trys putting it into reverse the lights only came on 4 times!!!

I'm not to sure what happens when you put the car into reverse but am I right to think there is some sort of switched which is pressed when you put the car into gear which then in turn allows the lights to come on?

If this does sound like the swich where would I find this a my car? and how easy do people think it will be to fix?

Any advice welcome and thanks in advance.

Alan.

Initial impression is reversing light switch. If you push it into reverse with engine off do reversing lights come on? This all points to the switch Suffered a similar fate on my Saxo VTS........Can't comment on how difficult to fix on a Scoob. Bob

The switch will be on the gearbox, not to sure where, maybe just under the rubber gaiter on the stick

The switch is a pressure type at the side of the gear box. Easy to replace when car is jacked up.
