WRX engine Oil
Hi I have a completely standard 53 plate wrx whose engine oil needs topping up. What should I put in it as I have not needed to do this before?
Thanks,
P.

Standard oil Subaru dealer uses was Shell semi-synthetic if i remember rightly.
That is what i was using in my MY03 WRX before i had it modded.
Shell Helix Plus it was.

Are there any warranty implications if you put in oil that isnt supplied by a dealership?
What might i be able to buy from the local petrol station that I could put in today?

How could they ever tell what oil you put in
You can get Shell oil from most Shell petrol stations

Actually semi and fully do mix however what's the point, you're defeating the object of using a fully if you mix it.

Pour some semi synthetic oil into a glass, then add some fully synthetic to it...
Still looks like oil doesn't it? - You try telling the 2 different oils apart now
Did you think that they would curdle, or one would sit on top of the other?

ok maybe not worded very well
but if there was a warranty claim they could find out if you had been mixing oils just by the smell and taste

As long as you use an approved viscosity and the correct spec then there's nothing that they can say.
Cheers
