Default Erratic Idle and Dump Valve

I've been getting an erratic idle for a couple of days and now the CEL light is lit after the car stalled on me.

There is some background .... i had the wrong VTA DV sent to me, so i decdied to leave the return air pipe blocked up with the bung and put the orignal dump valve on - i thought that wouldn't matter for a few days until i got a new one - do you think this is the problem? Shall i reconnect the return air pipe until the DV arrives??? And how do you get rid of the CEL?

cheers
James

It's possible that the OE dumpvalve is opening at idle, which would mess up the idling

Re-connect the return pipe and you'll find out if this is the cause.

I reconnected the OE dump valve and the idle stabilsed, so thats okay, but the CEL didn't go out for quite a while, it took several starts and drives for it disappear!!
