Default 2.5" or 3" exhaust

I have a my 94 WRX running around 300 bhp with a bit more to come thanks to a few mods (fuel pump 440's fmic and a well mapped scooby ecu) cheers pavlo. Is it worth my while moving on to a 3" full system or am i fime for a while on the system i have at the moment.Which is a Magnex twin dump downpipe to a 2.5" non resonated centre section with a 6*4" magnex back box. Thanks in advance.

i would say yes - i assume you are looking for more power in the futre, if so you may find the 2.5 a bit restrictive.

I would stick with the 2.5 to keep the noise down until you get to nearer to over 350 BHP.

John, I found my 3" exhaust to be quieter than my 2.5". I swapped Scoobysport centre and backbox for Revolution.

I went from Magnex 2.5 to Revolution 3" and found just the opposite, but the Magnex backboxes are fairly quiet. I've always found the standard Scoobysport backboxes obnoxiously loud, except for the occasional schoolboy satisfactions of ripping through the gears, but usually they are just embarrassing.

If you have to go 3" for power reasons and don't like noise, the best bet is probably a 3" Revolution with lots of extra silencers in the centre section (custom job, ends up more expensive).

Thanks for the info gent's it is very helpfull. Noise is not the reason to change to a 3" set up. I was Just wondering if it was getting a bit restrictive on 2.5" at that power.
Cheers for the info
