1 headlight has gone dim - why?
Hi all
Not used the car for 2 weeks while we stripped and replaced lots of expensive parts in the engine! and now its all back together the drivers side headlight will only come on dim i.e about 5 watts of power iff that!
It has come on slow before but this time it just will not come on. I have swapped the bulbs, it works fine in the other headlight.
any ideas - is there something in this PIAA wiring that it has by the washer bottle area or are they just connecting blocks?
hope someone can help this annoying problem!
Cheers

wel yes because the engine came out but no because they have all gone back and all wiring was checked and checked again!
As i say mate it has done it a couple of times before i have even touched anything so i know its not me, and it usually came on a few moments later, this time though just comes on dim as iff it cant get enough power to light it.
its a strange one but the grounding does sound promising especialy as its a my93 the wire could probably do with replacing.

Its the fuse blown, happened exactly the same on mine, subaru have bulit in a system where if a fuse blows then it will keep the lamp glowing so you are not driving round with a one eyed monster endangering other motorists

I would be thinking of the headlamp relay personally. The fuse box under the bonnet on the right hand side of the car (looking from the front of car), inside the box you will see two relays at the back. Try swapping them round, if the dimming swaps round as well then it will be the relay. I had exactly the same problem a few years ago with mine, i repaired the relays and never had a problem since.
