Tec 2 or 3?
Warranty's up later this year so after a few more horses, already got a group N backbox and will later get a de cat resonated center but that will be all. so is it worth going for tec 3 or will 2 do. Also does anybody know the power gains with tec 2, is it switchable and whats the price?
cheers manners.

Tek2 will not be much cheaper than a Tek3 custom map (approx £400 v £500) I would recommend you remove the uppipe and downpipe cats and only retain the centre one. This plus a Tek 3 should add approx 50bhp. (Tek2 30-40 bhp) The uppipe cat imposes a limit on exhaust gas temperature which compromises the tuning set up, in my opinion, 20/30 bhp is the safe maximum increase if the upcat is retained.
It is most likely that you have a map switch capable ECU in that year of WRX.

I was thinking of doing something similar myself Andy. Could you tell me what sort of additional power gain I'd get if I removed my up pipe cat as well as the down pipe with a Tek3 on my 02 WRX? Would it pass an MOT with the centre cat only?
Thanks, and sorry to jump in.

Edited above post moto, I have never mot tested a MY01 onwards on a centre cat only however on the classics (same cat ? ) if the centre cat is fully heated up and in good health then they can pass an mot test.
Ideally you would want your new decat up/down pipes lagged to retain the heat.
