Default quick question re: oil breathers and smokey exhaust

My turbo is going for seal checking very soon as this is seemingly the cause of my smokey exhaust.

One thing I've not checked is the oil breather pipes, and apparently if they are blocked then this could cause oil to leak from the seals.

It's difficult for me to check them now, but my turbo only seemed to leak oil under light power , or lift- off at about 2500 rpm.

If it did not smoke at higher rpm/under load then does this rule out the oil breathers or should I halt turbo removal proceedings and do some re-checking?

Cheers
