Question Expensive Day Out!

Just got back from a rather expensive day out. Had to stop on the motorway with a blown out rear passenger side tyre.

Couldn't get the jack out (managed to bash my hand and bleed everywhere) and had to phone Mr Subaru Assistance. Took a while for him to turn up (well, seemed ages with 2 kids in the back!) but he was a very helpful chap.

Had to drive at 50 to the nearest tyre place for two new rear tyres, as they had warn to complete baldness on the inside of each rear tyre. From the outside they look virtually new, and the front two are absolutely fine.

Any idea what could have caused this? Had it in the main dealer in November for a 'winter check' and he said the tyres at this time were fine. So in 2 months they have worn through completely!

Is this the camber? Wheel alignment? Could it be comething the dealer should have spotted in November?

Although I resent having to pay Kwik Fit prices for tyres, I'm just glad we all got home safely.

Had something similar on mine, worn inside edge of tyre out, went to TSL to get geom done before new tryes went on. The toe was measured at 4mm, which was about 3mm out, I think, causing the inside edge to wear. Apparently this is still within the tolerances of the car. But got it sorted now, rears wearing much more even now.

Got mine booked in at dealers on Wednesday, £65 + VAT for the geom checking and fixing. Still think they should have noticed it when i had it in the other week, but more annoyed at myself for not noticing...

Just hope they sort it Wednesday! Can safely get some new wheels then Can't fob the missus off with 'the tyres are worn and expensive might as well get new wheels' idea now though...
