How useful is the avcr to someone (like me) with no idea how to set/change set ups?? Also is this controller capable of being used safely on a newage ??

i leave mine alone, i paid to have it fitted and setup. once fitted it alows fine tuning of the boost in the lower gears plus it alows for 2 boost settings ive got one at 1.1bar which i never use and one at 1.45bar which is on all the time , when i added my avcr to a tek 3 map it was an amazing difference but if you get done at once you will never really see the difference the avcr can make

It was probably 0.6mm. This is to eliminate spark integrity problems at higher boost.

had the same car(no changes) mapped by 2 of the above

had to pay for Bob to fix all the cell errors I was getting after the first remap ( every other week ), the constant amber on the knocklink didn't worry me too much till Bob said check the leds as his det cans showed much more .... all red's were bust :0

wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't visited the first mapper serveral times with the problems

if I could only show you the amount of email's Br has sent me, and most none map related .... cam sensor, air filter, oil catch can to name a few

and yet agin when the vf35 arrives in the post Br will be sorting it out

good things come to those who wait

Once you have paid the initial amount for the map and licience, how much are subsequent maps, and will any ecutek agent/mapper carry out the work, even if you didn't buy the original licience and map from them?

Rich: Sounds like your engine was in a precarious condition and you got it sorted before it hurt you in the pocket badly.
There are "experts " out there and flowery talkers but sadly too few mappers who totally understand what they are doing and the implications. This is one reason for the high number of Subaru engine failures.
I have lost count of the times that Bob mapped the STi Wagon when it had the Link but power output climbed steadily from 417 bhp to 585 bhp along with other mods and changes and Bob was a very signifigant part of that.
I had one mishap one Sunday at Elvington when a plug insulator broke and took out a valve and valve seat. In part that may have been because I decided to tinker with the map.
Paying a little bit more to have the car mapped by a man with tremendous practical knowledge, ability and track record is a better option than a cheaper dodgy map and a potential engine rebuild.

Bob is currently remapping my P1, I have no complaints. He has a lot of knowledge and is very patient. I would recommend him to anyone.

Not used any of the other mappers mentioned so can not comment.

Just remembered...when i bought my car the PowerFc was mapped by BR, and the map was kack...do a search there is a post flying around..where they admited mapping the car to a safe level, hence £2000 spent on the mods brought the car from 220bhp to 240bhp.!

I think when you go somewhere like that..they will not map you car correctly as they do not want to take the chance of you blowing up your engine..hence the safe map....

Recently i have been working with Paul for my map, luckly he is not too far for me so i can drive up to him if i have an issue..and over time i think i am now nearly happy with my map

Anyway...i bough the car, ran it to Andy to have the initial Map...then 2nd map was done by Pavlo...though this is for the PowerFC...

Though from the above i have heard of Pat, and he is considered as a good mapper...

Sam, are you sure you mean BR, as i seem to recall you mentioning RC Developments and not Bob Rawle of BRDevelopments.

Can you clarify?

Sam,

Do you have a green MY98 bought in Surrey? Was the previous owner a guy called Mark?

If so, double check the information, as the Power FC in that was not supplied by nor was it initally mapped by BR Developments. I won't name the company, as it's not my place to do so, but I did have lengthy chats with Mark about it.

If it's the same car, the reason the initial mapper put such a conservative map on it, was due to the levels of noise from the engine!

My appologies...just checked the invoice..was RC Developments..

So the above revaltes to RC Developements...I shall shutup now.

Yep car was bought from Mark, who then had the Piston Slap and other issues resolved from Cheam Motors..

ps: the engine of the car is superb as all AndyF, Pavlo and Rob who have worked on my car will confirm...
Also the car is now pushing near 340bhp

Sam

since this is on topic! I had my car mapped at TSL and it feels great i must say, but I was told that the mapper doesnt like mapping over 300bhp on standard internals, and so didnt push it, will be fitting a APS TMIC on Sunday, I want to know who can I use to remap the car that bit further and to take the advantage of the new TMIC? also will this be the cheaper price as it will be a second remap? or does that only count if you go back to the same person? as i thought that once you pay for the licensing all you then pay for is the mapping?
cheers

I'd like to think all competent mappers will insure the engine doesn't go bang while still getting the best from the car

Okay...for arguments sake..lets say all mappers are competent in mapping...Then there really wouldnt be any point of choosing who you should go to for a map?
