Got a slight metallicy rattle from the heatshields on the exhaust system, The actual exhaust is perfectly fine, just a bit of an annoying vibration rattle.

Whats the best and easiest way of dealing with this? Obviously i don't want to replace the exhaust itself as that is fine.

Suggestions please.

 

A few big jubilee clips round the heat shield to hold it firmly against the exhaust where it has rotted away will sort you out.

 

Has anyone got a photo of the heat shield or can someone give me more of an idea of where it is on the car? I think i have something similar but dont know where to find it

 

Have a look under your bonnet to the left of the i/c. Thats the one that usually rattles, especially if you've had the downpipe changed.

 

If yours is an older car then it's a known problem. Take a look at the SIDC faq:

Hmm maybe i havent got that then, the rattle seems to come from the passenger footwell (not the ECU cover - checked that!)
