turbo on a UK MY96
I read that the Turbo was resized smaller on MY98 to improve spool up, does this mean the early model has greater potential for raising power!
Incidentally, what is the turbo model number forMY96
thanks

The smaller turbo (TD04) was fitted with the facelift in '97
Previous to that they had a TD05. I have seen these push close to 300bhp with just a filter and full de-cat

Hi,
If you have the early classic (non face lift) then you will have the td05 which in my opinion in a better turbo. I have just upgraded to it from a td04.
It holds the power much better towards the red line.
Your next best mod would a full decat.

My STi version2 (96N) wagon has a VF22 turbo unit. Able to handle about 400bhp, however the intercooler is a tad on the small side for such power upgrades.
