Default Applied Numbers

I have just checked the Applied number on my car and it say's

GF8B58D

I have checked the chart and it say's the manufacturer year is 94.

OK i say, but my car number plate says it's a 96 N reg

It's a WRX Wagon import, do you think it's suspicious?

It's only got 45'000 on the clock.

Thanks

Rob

Just been in touch with the firm that imported the car.

The year of manufacture is not always the year the car is registered.

So if you have a N reg car the manufacturers year is not 96, you need

to check the applied number on the plate under the bonnet to see what

year it was built.

I thought my wagon was MY96 which is the 240bhp version but it's

not, it's actually a MY94 which is 220bhp.

So i'm getting in touch with Graham Goode for some more horses !!!

True; very late registrations like this arent too common though

Hmmmm.... only 45000 on a car 11 years old. Has that been converted to miles... if not 45K km is even more unbelievable. And on one that was registered two years after it was built. Sounds all too fishy to me.

Hope it's straight tho. Did you get any sort of history with the car?

Tony.

It depends where theyre from Tony; a Northern island car would probably have done a lot more but cars from Tokyo/Yokomaha and Kobe arent rare with a low odometer reading like this. Ive got a 1994 car on the boat now with 67k KMs / 42k Miles on the clock so it isnt impossible.

Btw; history of any sort with imported cars is virtually unheard of. All new cars do come with a service book but as all garage's service records are computerised they are seldom used. Far less than 1 in 100 cars offered at auction, irrespective of age/condition, come with books.

I'm 1 in 100 then.... .

I agree the mileage isn't impossible, i'd argue it's also not the norm.

Id agree, its extremely unusual. Id guess that its far fewer than 1 in 100 too but I dont really count; you can look at several hundred auction listings without seeing 'books' being mentioned though.

Hi guy's - sorry been away.

The car didn't come with any Jap history but it does have a lot of reciepts for
work it's had done over here.

The car is very very tidy so the mileage does add up and it drive like a dream.

Cheers
