Default MAP sensor

Does anyone know where the MAP sensor is located on a Impreza WRX, 93 import?

Cheers

In front of the driver's side suspension turret along with the wastegate solenoid and pressure exchange solenoid. It's a little black box.

I have a spare if you need one

Wink

As David said If you look at the piccie below, the pressure exchange solenoid is shown - the map sensor is to the lower left with the wastegate solenoid below the pressure exchange solenoid

Cool

someone's got an avcr eh del

the map sensor looks like an upside down black moulded box with wires leading to a grey plug that you can see at the bottom left of the pic.

Dead easy to change to the later 3 bar map sensor. I know del gave me the wiring diagram for it too

What are the benefits of upgrading to the later MAP sensor?

The oem map sensor on the early classics 'tops' out at 17.2psig(1.18bar) so causes problems with boost cut as its voltage output saturates. It will also prevent you controlling the boost above 17.2psig if running on an oem ECU fitted with a chip

I thought the later MAP sensor where only 1.5 bar. You can change to a 3 bar but with a link ECU I think you restrict the ECU Map and it was not recommend by Bob from BR Developments when he mapped my car.

I am going to fit a ScoobyECU soon to my MY95WRX, should I then also change the MAP sensor to the newer version.

If so, where is the best place to get one.

Grade A subaru or any other breaker for the MAP sensor...

When you get the ScoobyECU, make sure you get one that is set up for the 3 bar MAP sensor.

dnb - It was one of your chips I bought from you just before Xmas, will this be set for 3 bar.

What benefit would a 3bar unit give me?
