Default tek3 - can I also add boost controller?

Hi
I have wrx02 with HKS hyper and decat all the way, HKS induction and dump valve. Recently had Tek3 remap doing about 1.3bar.
Its running no det. Much more power than b4 but i just need abit more power at the lights sometimes .
If I fit a electric boost controller maybe set at 1.45bar ONLY for occassional use, will that be ok?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Kind of defeats the point of having it mapped really, to have it mapped for a certain boost target, then up it via a controller. You are better off seeking a turbo / IC / headers upgrade and remapping again if you want some bigger gains IMHO.

Also, not sure but I think you might be near the boost limits of an 02 WRX - 1.45 is rather high.

i used to have a tek3 ecu and it ran at 1.3 bar then i got andyf to fit and map an apexi AVCR to run with my tek3 ecu the difference was amazing it still only made 1.3 bar of boost as that was set with the tek3 ecu and any more may of blown the engine but he adjusted the boost range in the lower gears 2nd gear felt more like 1st it was the reason i pulled my tek3 ecu and went for a full apexi power fc and ive nver ever regretted it just wish id done it sooner

Thanks guys for your replys

I would have got vf34 turbo, sti injectors, fuel pump and bigger cooler and get it tek3 remapped but i worked it out that it would cost me over 2k to do it all properly and get 300bhp+ but my budget is low these days and the cheapest solution is just to bang a boost controller for the time being.

I find that my boost comes after 3500 rpm with tek3.

I think I will probably order the Greddy profec b2 and just set it on same boost level 1.3 and hopefully the boost comes in earlier.

My mate has profec and his one comes in at about 2000rpm.

I have the following gauges fitted...oil temp, oil pressure, AF ratio, Knocklink, boost. Hopefully I can keep an eye on the condition of the engine while I play with the boost controller. Probably, wont go more than 1.4bar and only a quick 1 or 2 blasts when i really need it. I will mostly have it turned off.
