not fitted mine long ago.
I have read you should have it set to max and that greens are ok. Any ambers and you should investiage causes and back off.

I'd guess that ANY activity indicates det, the first couple of lights means it's slight, any more and you need to
a) Worry
b) Go easy on the right foot !
I only get the first lights flickering when giving it real big welly.

No.... greens could well just be background engine noise. Especially if these are seen higher up the rev range.

I have also just fitted my knocklink this weekend.

I fitted it and tapped around the surrounding area (As it says in the instructions) with a spanner. All lights lit up when I tapped, so I know it's working ok.

I have it wired through my ign 12v. When I switch on my ignition, it lights up the first green light and it stays on permanently. I have driven the car at full sensitivity and the second green sometimes comes on at full WOT. I am assuming that everything is ok, except for the permanently lit first green led.

Can any body help? Is this LED ok?

Sorry for hijacking thread.

My understanding -though i'm not an expert by any means- is that 2 greens are fine under WOT, background engine noise does increase with increasing throttle; the KL is just picking this up. It's only if you start getting amber's that you should be concerned.

I've also heard of instances where people get a red light briefly on start up and -apparently- this has just been the KL picking up noise from the starter! Check with an expert to confirm, but It sounds like all is ok to me!

Best.

1st green doubles as on/off light.

It should be brighter when detecting det.

I personally wouldn't want to see the 2nd green much at all, the odd flicker at most. Think it was John Banks who confirmed on a post the other day, that the 2nd green was uadible with det cans.

Can anyone confirm what Hz frequency range the KL looks for? I did suspect a while ago that it was picking up a gear mesh frequency but no-one could tell what it listened for...

Thanks for that fellas, very informative.

The first green led is in fact very dim (just checked). So I'm happy and my car's happy
