I want to remove the pipe connecting the turbo inlet to the ISCV but...
I want to fit a new turbo inlet without all the connections on the standard version except for the dump valve and plan to fit a filter on the ISCV after removing the pipe between the ISCV and the inlet. Experimenting with this today by pulling the rubber pipe off the ISCV and stuffing up the inlet end leaving the ISCV end open I found that the car won't idle at all (no great surprise there tho' ) How is this overcome so that I can have normal idle with just the filter fitted? Car is MY98 with Apexi PFC.

I bet it runs fine for about 8 seconds then it dies, doesn't it?
The ECU runs an internal MAP on start up untill the airflow through the MAF stabilises then it switches to MAF. (Or something like that)
You are bypassing the MAF by leaving the pipe to the ISCV off!!
Plumb it back into the inlet after the MAF and you will have no problems
Or fit an ECU that doesn't use a MAF sensor

When I first took the pipe off the car had been idling for a while and it died instantly. It started again right away with a bit of throttle and again died as soon as I tried to let it idle. I didn't get an 8 second spell. Does this mean that all cars using the Apexi PFC have to retain this pipe? I have a Spec-R inlet with Samco 63-76mm elbow and I'm not too sure about making a good connection into the Samco and there's no way that I'm going to have somebody weld another stub into the alloy pipe even if there was room! Maybe a 76mm T piece between the Samco and the MAF hose is the way forward. Pity, I'm wanting to remove some of the clutter from the top of the engine when I'm at it but can't win 'em all
