BACK PARCEL SHELF/ SPEAKERS
MY98 UK Turbo - how the hell do I get my old speakers out? I think they are aftermarket ones (Crossfire) and the front ones have been removed. The back ones are screwed from the top down but have plastic honeycombe effect covers on top pof the parcel shelf. How do I dismantle this lot?

If the covers are circular you could try twisting them gently anticlockwise sideways in case they are held on like a jam jar lid. If not then I'd carefully lift them as they probably just snap in place.

Nooooo don't do that! They have metal /plastic clips and they'll ping off/break or tear/break the thin wood used for the shelf (it's very brittle)
You have to remove the seats (no joke) Bottom bit first, then the seat back. And remove at least one rear C-pillar trim panel (may have unclip a A/B pillar trim + remove a front seatbelt top anchor to make it easier - but not always nessercery). Then push up all the plastic retaining clips for the shelf from inside the boot and slide the shelf out.
The shelf is only crappy wood, so breaks very easily so don't be heavy handed when removing it.
It's not hard to do, just takes a while - thats all.

The shelf must be different on my car (MY95) - it sits on top of a metal bracket and the speakers bolt into that - you have to take the covers off to undo the bolts. (Different speakers of course). There is no way you could slide the shelf off with the speakers in place.
