AND IF I NEED BIGGER INJECTORS?
All i know is that the one i'd taken off was blown and alot smaller in size
than the one i put on off sti 555 (susposed 320 bhp)standard

What is the model and year of your car? Saloon or Wagon? Import or UK? STi or WRX or Turbo? What other modifications? Is there a VFxx number on the turbo, if so, what is xx?
If your car is pre-1996 and not an import wagon, it should have come with a TD05 which is a better turbo than what you have fitted I am afraid. TD05 will outflow a VF22 which is the largest of the RHF5 family (assume you don't mean VHF5 since I am not aware of a turbo of that description for a Subaru).

Both are smaller than a TD05, the TD05's compressor flows 9% more than a VF22, and the turbine wheel is bigger, plus it spools up better than the VF22, similar to a VF23. VF22/23 seem to like to explode over 20 PSI, TD05 however, will genuinely hold together at 25 PSI in many cases. You've downgraded turbos I'm afraid if you started with a TD05.

Think the 97 STi had a VF23, and was 280 PS, 276 BHP. There was no genuine 320 BHP version to my knowledge. Lots of people talk up imports to 300-320 BHP, doesn't mean they are.
Yours will have had the larger TD05.
Swapping to a VF23 you might get away with running no other mods, but worth double checking boost, AFR and knock and correcting deficiencies found.

i currently have a 97 sti and you are right it does have a vf23. the VF23 with a full exhaust including decat, turbo up pipe, decent air filter and optimax with octane booster would give you somewhere between 300 and 310bhp
