Think you also need to state Pound for pound as the Gems is in a different league all together, Once mapped competently...

I replaced MY93 WRX with a Z4 ECU. But not to sure about the other ECU's

A Z4 will give you about 255 bhp
A 7K will give you about 275 bhp

Aye up. Maybe you could help me out. How can I tell if my car has a Z4 ECU? It is a 1995 4 door WRX. I want to be sure because peak boost is about 14.5 PSI, which I believe is a couple of PSI above where it should be for the Z4. I do have a decat and HKS induction kit, which might alter things.

Thanks

David

Default UK ECU?

On the same note, can anyone tell me if the UK 1995 4 door has the same Z4 ECU as the WRX?

Thanks

To find out if your car has the z4 :
One way would be to check for the following:

taken from a website the series 2 mk1 impreza had the following revisions:

"variable speed wipers
increased power to 260PS (z4)
electric aerial
upgrade cloth seats
wheel size increased to 16"
Electric retractable mirrors"

Alternativly , the easy way , just lift the passenger side carpet in the foot well, remove the 4 or so screws securing the kick plate and have a look at the markings on the ecu.
Sure enough if it is a z4 it will say .......yep you guessed it ...z4 on it

I would recomend this upgrade as it safe provided it is used with optimax.
a nice jump from 240 ps to 260ps expect to pay 150 - 200 for the ecu which are frequently found on here and dare i say it ebay - errrw

Assumming I have a Z4 (will check), it's well worth it. I'm getting 282bhp out of my car and it's only supposed to be 260 on Japanese fuel! These babies really go some....

Staright swap - plug and play - no set up. The z4 ecu is a far better tune over your original 240 ps tune. You must use optmax or equiv though.
With other mods like d cat exhaust you can easily see 280.

Like my wagon
96'
mods are:
td05 turbo
z4 ecu
full scoobysport d cat
polishied heads
knocklink

Ideally you could get a custom map for around £600 which will give your more power and it will be set up to run on normal super unleaded.
Not sure about the other ecus you mentioned. I would check. I know that the speedo control is different on a uk car
