Lightbulb Bit of help for a 94 wagon pleeeez

Guy has a wagon of above desc (JDM) , when turbo spools up, starts to sound a bit like a hoover starting up. ( best desc i can think of)
It only happens under load when turbo starts to spool. No smoke or nuthin.
Its not the common " blowing over bottle top " type thread ive seen loads of.
I've never seen any thread on this b4...

Have you checked the hoses under the bonnet?
Do you feel a loss of power??

He's had a look, and couldnt see any hoses off/loose/split.
Will confirm that, also ask about loss of power.
Had a v small trip in left hand seat..everything seemed normal xcept for this.
