Default Help, Squeaking Air Con Pulley Wheel !

Hi, I have a problem with the pulley wheel on the air conditioning compressor on my STI V5 which has become very annoying.

I've tried putting some copper slip on the belt but the squeak/whistle seems to be comming from inside the pulley wheel itself.
I've also tried spraying WD40 into it which cures it for a short while until it returns with a vengance !

Has anyone had the same problem that may know of a cure ?

Cheers........Jon.

I squirted white grease in mine , but it only lasts for a while, It's the clutch assembly for the Aircon, If you turn your aircon on does it go away ???
Cured mine permanently with a good second hand unit

I only put the copper slip on the outer edges, as performed by a Subaru mechanic to my old WRX when the belts were rather noisy, only that time it cured it !

I think this is more likely a problem with the compressor clutch.

Can I service or just replace the clutch or am I looking at a replacement unit ?

As stated above it is the clutch , As you say, I have stripped my prevoius one down & put it back together, It is more costly & time consuming to replace the clutch. Just get a 2nd user unit from a breakers. & as i said you can confirm this by turning on your aircon to see if the noise decreses or goes away, as the pully for the aircon will have it's clutch engaged.
Simple
