Fairly new Clutch - juddering and slipping
Aaargh - I'm not amused
Had a lightened flywheel and uprated clutch fitted to my classic in February (2004).
Within the last 4 months or so it's been getting more and more juddery when cold. I now have to let the car warm up before going anywhere because it judders like f**k, and now find though it is starting to judder when warm and I guess because I've got used to how it all feels I don't notice how bad it is (I let my boyfriend have a quick drive the other day and he said how bad the clutch is!)
Please note there have been no full bore starts and I do not ride the clutch!!
Then the other day in fifth gear on the motorway and at a speed of around 70mph, I put my foot down and the engine revved out as the clutch slipped.
Thing is it was fitted by Scoobyclinic and although Adam said to take it back up and they will have a look. If I'm honest about it - it's way too bloody far to go back up to be told that I need another clutch or whatever. It's going to cost me £60 / 80 to make the return journey - and that's if they don't need to keep it up there. (I wish I had it done locally now, but that's my prob )
Is there anything else I can do - I know previously with the old clutch that my local Subaru dlr (in his personal opinion) said to try a full bore start - I don't want to do this as I could then have a major problem.
Can I check the clutch for 'blueing' or maybe it's the flywheel........
Any other opinions / suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Scooby clinic must have given you a Warranty for parts and Labour,
therefore should pick your car up for you. tell them you can't drive the car as it is!.

I've looked through many of the threads and there appears to be one thing that stands out - try a full bore start. Can someone advise what revs I should pick up and is it a case of dumping the clutch?
Plus if I do this I certainly can't take it back to SC after!
I do wonder though just as a one question in my mind - is there a way of confirming it has got a lightened flywheel or whether I had a skimmed one?? obviously if you are'nt there looking over the "fitter's" shoulder to see it go in.......

I got an exedy clutch from APIDavid,
very good value, top service and its holding 330brake quite comfortably
but....
you say that it will cost you £60 return trip, but that will quite possibly mean you end up with a good clutch set up thats working well for you.

I would say so, give ScoobyClinic a try before you shop elsewhere (they seem to have a good rep on here and good reps are hard to come by here!)

Hi! try anywhere between 5 & 6 K Revs and drop the clutch,for a
full bore start this shouldn't give you any probs, but if this does't
work contact SC, They really should look after you, mention that
you are registered with scoobynet, i don't think they would like
anything bad said about their work. As for the Best Clutch I agree
with Peanuts the Exedy Clutch from APIDavid is a great clutch.
Ps :You won't be able to tell if a lightened flywheel is fitted
without stripping it back down.

Full bore start treatment or just letting the clutch slip upto 4000rpm in 3rd or 4th for a few seconds whilst on half boost usually cures the judder.
Technically, they shouldn't do it, the only full cure I've ever heard of alledgedly is a p1 bell housing.
I find mine only ever does it at this time of year, and usually only when its been damp. I would say it should only do it a maximum of 2 or 3 times from a cold start. Any more and I would say it needs looking at.
The fact you say the clutch is slipping in 5th is not a good sign - it should not do that and needs to be checked out, it's only 4 months old so should be covered by a parts warrantee from the clutch manufacturer.
But if scoobyclinic have offered to look at it again to amke sure it's not faulty - GO THERE! Not giving them the chance to look at it and moaning won't cure a thing. And if there is a problem then it's not going to cost you except your time and inconvienince. The alternative is having to fork out for new clutch when the current one could be replaced for free!
The only time a new clutch is not covered under warrantee is if there is:
- obvious signs of abuse/bad driving skills
- excessive engine/performance modifications
- crankshaft oil seal failure,
- Incorrect fitment (which Scoobyclinic would be liable to cover if it were the case).
