Default Do you need to reset the ecu when you fit a full decat system

Hi, i was wondering if you need to reset the ecu when you fit a full decat exhaust system on a classic turbo my00.

Cheers in advance for any help.

I would say yes mate - it'll certainly not do any harm for your ECU to relearn the new parameters with your DeCat

Thumbs up

Thought it would be best, will disconnect the battery for an hour tomorrow as i read somewhere that this would reset the ecu.

Sorry to hijack the thread! I thought the ECU 'learnt' as it went along? I didn't think a reset would make any difference.

It will reach optimum settings quicker if you don't reset as they will be nearer to what it is running than an advance multiplier of 8 with a load of zeros in the fine learning table. The AE802 ECU code in the MY00 is pretty dynamic for knock learning from spending hours watching it doing its stuff.

No, reset, AFAIK the 92-96 ECUs prefer to retard rather than advance.
