Default more power...???

if the engines used in all the imprezas (MY01 onwards) are all the same 2.0 boxer turbo, what is it that gives the WR1, STi, etc their extra power? im aware that its the replacement ECU, i have an MY02 WRX PPP, and i know that its a prodrive ECU so for more power is it simply a different ECU...?!

i know it might sound like a daft question, but i was just wondering...and how do i get more power out of mine if i want it?

If you want to go further than a PPP, the first thing that needs changing are the injectors, decat or no decat. Then the turbo isn't really up to it and then the fuel pump can't keep up as well as the intercooler being a bit small. To get the extra air through the intercooler needs an STi scoop but all that's wasted as you can't get the power down to the road properly so you need bigger wheels and tyres and better suspension. Then it cooks the std brakes and you still haven't got a 6 speed box and tight diffs.......

Can you see where I'm heading yet??

The basics are that it is possible to make your car more powerful but it won't be cheap to do properly or safely bearing in mind you have no warranty to repair it if it all went wrong.

Get an STi, you know you want to

Mike
