Default 02 WRX intercooler into 93WRX?

Has anyone done it? I have had a measure up and it seems a little tight for space back towards the bulkhead. Are there any other problems I should know about? I realise there is the difference in dump valves nut I was just going to blank over the outlet on the front of the new ic and retain the existing dv location. Are there any downsides to doing this? Any help appreciated.

Haven't done what you're suggesting, but do have MY02 i/c for sale, if you're looking for one.

There is a thread that shows this mod through the stages of fitting the STI8 IC. It highlights all the pitfalls you are likely to come across.

Here it is

It can be done, a few people are running the MY99/00 IC on <96 cars

Its a tight fit and you do have to shorten the IC outlet, but it can be done.

daz, i think i know the one you're looking at hope my email was useful

like Jay said it can be done on the later models with the phase 1.5/2 manifold as the throttle body & idle control valve are set further forward giving you more room, it would be a hell of a tight squeeze on a phase 1 manifold car, i only just got my STi5 one to fit on my my95
