How easy is it to lower or remove petrol tank

I am in the process of creating my TRUE solid rear bulkhead. I need to weld across the base just where the sodding tank is located. So, can I lower it away or does it have to be removed totally?

Anyone removed on before?

I'm interested in this too, i'm thinking or replacing my tank with one in the boot WRC style, has anyone done this before ??
