Newbie please some help on boosting
hi to all out there im New to here and i just bought a Subaru 1997 GC8 EJ20K, Japanese WRX, and i have some mods i just done and i wish i could boost a little more i pluged in the Apexi power fc and standard boost seems at 1 bar how much more can i boost on a standard EJ20K motor? and do i need a different map sensor like the optional boost kit for the apexi power fc? or can i boost without the Apexi map sensor? and if i do purchase the Apexi map sensor what changes do i need to do to the Power FC. Thanks for your help and sorry for the booring Questions.

yep i do run octane booster already but we dont have optimax here. and about the knocklink i have the power fc already displaying the knock levels.

You can adjust the boost with a Dawes device, very accurate and reliable. Just watch out for detonation and if you go too high with the boost you may get fuel cut which will give you a fright first time it does it! The fuel to the injectors is automatically stopped if it goes above the regulated boost value. Somewhere around 1.15 Bar if I remember correctly. You then need a fuel cut defender if you want to run more boost than that. If you can't get Optimax then you will need plenty of octane booster in the tank.
